I started listening to podcasts a lot last year. I hadn't listened to any prior to that. I would occasionally turn up the radio in my car, though. But then again, that was only when I couldn't play my own playlists for some reason. Then one fine day, thanks to Spotify, I discovered podcasts and I've never looked back since. They're extremely informative, useful, entertaining, and convenient. I have a long commute to and from home to university, which is when I use the help of some of my favourite podcasts to help pass my time while learning something new. I always feel like I could use the 45-60 min drive(each way) doing a lot more productive things than driving; reading a book, an interesting article, watching a show, anything really.
