Habits of Successful People - Tim Cook, Mark Zuckerberg, Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos

Bill Gates, Elon Musk, Tim Cook

Everybody is different, sure. But that should never limit what you can or can't achieve. But here's the thing, we all sometimes put limitations on us because of not having certain opportunities or resources.  We look at successful people and think that they became what they did because of having so and so and such and such opportunities, resources in their lives. That's not right. What we do need to do, though, is try to look at the same successful people and incorporate some of their habits and use them in your life to at least evolve and become better at whatever it is that we already do or aspire to do.

So, here's a list of some habits, inspired by some of the most successful people in the world, that you could adopt:

  • Discipline
Discipline is a virtue that not many of us millennials possess. We are just not good at it. There are so many distractions and things to do that we can sometimes find it impossibly hard to fit all of it within 24 hours. There's a famous saying: Time is money. And it couldn't be more true. It really is. The minute you start treating your time as money, you'll learn to become more and more careful with it. Respect your own time and that of others. That is one of the most important habits that you need to adapt yourself to.

  • Early to bed, early to rise
This might seem like an age-old saying which is easier said than done... but it's not. Some of the most successful people in the world, from all walks of fame -- from author Dan Brown to actor Mark Wahlberg, reality TV star Kim Kardashian to Prime Minister Winston Churchill, CEOs Elon Musk(SpaceX and Tesla) to Tim Cook(Apple), Mark Zuckerberg(Facebook) and Jeff Bezos(Amazon). Now, their waking up times may differ but they get to pack in a lot more stuff in the day due to their habit of waking up early. So can you. You don't have to wake up at 3:45 AM like Tim Cook. You could just wake up like Mark Zuckerberg at 8:00 AM. Find what works best for you.

  • Read
Read. A lot. And then read some more. We just don't read enough anymore. Here's a great article that came out in The New Yorker, last year. It perfectly summarizes our current problem with reading. We think that we read a lot. Sure, right? We scroll through so many posts, captions, tweets -- I mean, that does count as reading, right? Yes and no. That is not what I meant by 'reading'. I meant reading books, poetry, newspapers, articles, even. When was the last time you read a book that made you want to think, made you feel like you learned something new, inspired you to attempt something new? If you already do attain the aforementioned benefits from your reading material, perfect. I don't need to convince you. But if you don't? You need to think about it. One thing that's most common amongst some of the most successful people in the world is that they read often. They might not be bibliophiles, but they make time for it. They know it's worth. It's time you did too.

  • Never give up
All the successful people that you now look up to -- movie stars, entertainers, musicians, entrepreneurs, philanthropists -- have struggled at some point in their lives. Some more than the others. It never came easy to them. I can promise you that. Life is not a bed of roses. It's more like how Forrest Gump described it -- a box of chocolates; you never know which one you're gonna get. Don't ever give up just because things aren't working out for you right now. Don't give up just because you're not making money yet. Don't give up because your friends don't believe in you. And don't you EVER give up because you are doubting yourself. If you believe in something that bad, give it your all and then give it some more. You never know when success comes knocking down your door.

  • Listen and Learn
In order to be successful, you need to start listening to other people's opinions. Sure, they might think they're totally absurd. Stupid, even. But here's the thing, even the stupidest opinions can help you gain wisdom. You just need to know what to take from it. There are going to be smarter(and dumber) people than you. You need to listen to be able to differentiate. You never know when someone can say something that can change things for you. You don't always have to agree, but you need to listen. That is one of the most important habits of any successful person.

Game of Thrones and Starbucks -- Great marketing?

Game of Thrones is arguably the biggest and most successful TV show in today's time. It's a global force and it has been for quite a few years now. Its characters are very well known and extremely popular. That popularity isn't strictly restricted to just the characters themselves, though. The actors that portray those main characters are equally popular -- Emilia Clarke(Daenerys Targaryen), Kit Harrington(Jon Snow), Peter Dinklage(Tyrion Lannister), Maisie Williams(Arya Stark), Sophie Turner(Sansa Stark), Nikolaj Coster-Waldau(Jaimie Lannister), Lena Headey(Cercei Lannister), among many others. They've all enjoyed immense fame over the past few years and amassed a fortune of money and fans, among the various other great tv/movie gigs that they've booked. As all Game of Thrones fans(and non-fans) are aware, we're on the last season of the show. The final season(8th) is already underway. We're four episodes down and there are just two more left. As you ca

Great Podcasts for budding Entrepreneurs

I started listening to podcasts a lot last year. I hadn't listened to any prior to that. I would occasionally turn up the radio in my car, though. But then again, that was only when I couldn't play my own playlists for some reason. Then one fine day, thanks to Spotify, I discovered podcasts and I've never looked back since. They're extremely informative, useful, entertaining, and convenient. I have a long commute to and from home to university, which is when I use the help of some of my favourite podcasts to help pass my time while learning something new. I always feel like I could use the 45-60 min drive(each way) doing a lot more productive things than driving; reading a book, an interesting article, watching a show, anything really. Thanks to some of these great podcasts down below, I've been able to gain the benefits of all the aforementioned things -- in an audio version obviously, but great, nonetheless: The Tim Ferris Show Tim Ferris is an

Elon Musk - Quotes

Elon Musk is one of most recognized names of today when it comes to technology. He is probably one of the very few people today who could potentially reach the level of superstardom that Steve Jobs enjoyed. Sure, there are many great CEOs and many more brilliant people with fantastic ideas but what sets Elon Musk is the same that set Steve Jobs apart from the others -- sheer animal ambition. Elon Musk has seen it and done it all -- from founding a tech start-up during the dot com boom, Zip2, to working on X.com, which later turned into PayPal. He then went on ahead into the uncharted territories of Space and Electric vehicles -- SpaceX and Tesla. With his sheer resilience, grit and ambition, he transformed the the private space and electric vehicles industry. He made Space sexy again. He revolutionized the way we look at and perceive electronic vehicles. Here are a few great quotes by him that should fuel your hustle in times of need:
